Sheldon Persad, A4A Director, BPE, MSc, CSCS, CPTN-CPT.M

Sheldon PersadSheldon brings over 20 years of industry experience to the management of the Advantage 4 Athletes team and facility. For the past two decades, he has helped weekend warriors, professional athletes, and fortune 500 companies in the corporate sector achieve their health and performance goals. He has taught several certification, college, and continuing education courses for beginner and National team coaches and trainers. He is entering his tenth year as a service provider for the Canadian Sports Centre, and in that time has had the opportunity to help Olympic and national team athletes from 14 different national team programs and across four continents. Sheldon is a co-author of two books, an award winning conference presenter, and has twice hosted his own weekly radio show segment. Above all, Sheldon enjoys spending time with his kids and family who all love being active as much as he does.

  

 

Ryan Scott, Clinic Director, BA (hons), DC, CSCS, CEP

Ryan_Scott_aAs a Chiropractor, Active Release Therapist, Acupuncture specialist, Certified Exercise Physiologist, and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist Dr. Scott's unique and well rounded background is a tremendous asset to A4A. Using his experience working with athletes and skills as a practitioner, he is focusing his energy on helping people return to their sport and activities quickly and safely.

Dr. Scott’s experiences have allowed him to work with elite level athletes in ice hockey, tennis, beach volleyball, field hockey, golf, boxing, rowing, figure skating, and more.  Driven by a love of learning he is committed to staying on the cutting edge of research to provide his athletes with the most current and effective training and treatment methods for optimal performance and recovery.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Scott plays hockey and enjoys a good story whether reading or at the movies.

 

Brynne Stainsby, DC, CSCS

Stainsby2Dr. Brynne Stainsby is an energetic and motivated chiropractor committed to the needs and goals of her patients. She brings a wealth of experience and education to A4A as a certified provider of Active Release Technique ® and Contemporary Medical Acupuncture, and Sports First Responder. Additionally, she has been involved in sport throughout her life as a competitive gymnast and cheerleader, and is currently working with a wide range of athletes as a gymnastics coach and the team doctor for the North York Rangers.
 
 After graduating Summa Cum Laude from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College, Dr. Stainsby was accepted into the post-graduate residency program at CMCC to become a Clinical specialist. She is committed to staying on the leading edge of research to be able to provide her patients with the most effective treatment options to achieve and maintain their health.
 
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Stainsby is keeping busy training for her first triathlon!

Chris Chapman, B.Kin, CSCS, CSEP-CEP

Chris ChapmanThroughout his career Chris has trained numerous athletes of all levels from high school, NCAA and CIS, to national and professional athletes. During his time at McMaster University, Chris worked as a student athletic therapist for numerous varsity teams and highly emphasizes injury prevention in his training philosophy. Upon graduation Chris stayed on board as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach for McMaster while working as the team therapist for Canada Basketball's National Development Academy. Although Chris trains athletes of all ages and sports, he has a special interest in youth development (10-16) and a sport focus on basketball, volleyball and rugby.

 

 

 

 

Jeff Overholt, B. Sc, CPGA, IYCA-YCS, TPI ' FP2

Jeff OverholtAfter completing his Human Kinetics degree at the University of Ottawa, Jeff turned one of his passions into a profession by becoming a CPGA golf instructor. Over the past three years Jeff has devoted his time and energy towards working with junior golfers and helping his students understand how their body affects their golfing performance. Jeff's desire for training kids and golfers has led him to become certified as an IYCA - Youth Conditioning Specialist and a Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) Level 2 golf fitness instructor. Jeff currently is an assistant coach with Henry Brunton Golf who is one of the leading providers of golf instruction in Canada. Jeff spends most of his leisure time in the summer on the golf course playing in tournaments and working on his own game. He also plays on several recreational men's hockey teams throughout the winter. 
 
 

Derrell Levy, BA, CPT

Derrell_Levy_aAs a former NCAA Athlete Derrell graduated from Oswego State University, with a bachelor in Health and Wellness Management, with minors in Coaching and Health Science, and also acquired a certification in personal training. Derrell has played and coached hockey for over 15 years.  Recently, Derrell received national attention as a finalist on the television series Making the Cut, won an NCAA National Championship, and finished his first year of minor pro hockey.

Furthermore, Derrell created training programs for elite hockey players and basketball teams while attending University. Derrell also has a background in track and speed training and loves using his experiences gained to help educate the athletes of today.

Outside of Advantage 4 Athletes Derrell enjoys spending time with family and friends as well as training himself to prepare for next season.

 

 

Sarah Coles

scolesSarah is a former world ranked WTA tennis player, and has experienced the best and latest in high performance training techniques in England, Spain and USA.
 
In 2009 Sarah graduated from Premier Training International based in United Kingdom where she earned a Certificate in Gym Instruction, a Certificate in Advanced Personal Training, and a Diploma in Personal Training.
 
She has also qualified as a Lifestyle Educator from First Line Therapeutic Lifestyle Certification.
 
Sarah has also competed in figure skating, and has enjoyed kick boxing and yoga disciplines.
 
Sarah is passionate about building a positive attitude and a strong foundation of mental and physical fitness. Currently she is working with elite tennis players, squash players, junior athletes, dedicated mature exercisers, and corporate fitness programs. 

  

 

Cheryl Millett, Nutritional Health and Performance Coach, BSc, RNCP, CCIr

CherylCheryl has a degree in Holistic Nutrition and a diploma in Iridology. For over 19 years, she worked for one of Canada's largest grocery retailers in risk management with experience in agricultural commodities and has seen first hand the sugar refinery process, flour milling, and oil refining. Cheryl left that position to start her own practice. Her goal is to educate and support others in creating a better nutritional lifestyle for optimum performance.

She is the Co-Founder of the Health and Wealth Revolution, along with being an organizer of groups such as the Forest Hill Walk Club, where membership grew to over 230 members in one year. Cheryl has successfully coached hundreds to improve their health, loose weight, gain lean muscle, improve sleep, improve mental clarity, increase energy, and more.

She has enjoyed the focus and accomplishments of running marathons. However, Cheryl's greatest joy is her family and she believes in balance for a healthier life. Life is an adventure worth living!

 

 

Ray Chinn, RMT

ChinnMy name is Ray Chinn. I am a Massage Therapist with an interest in working with athletes. My degree in Physical Education from York University is the base from which I work towards getting the best performance from my clients.

I have worked with high level amateur and professional athletes over the 19 years that I have been practicing Massage Therapy. I also have experience in working with a variety of issues from prenatal to geriatric and injury/post operative rehabilitation.

I look forward to helping you get to your goals with the team at A4A.

 

 

 

Scott Stanger, BA, BAHSc, CK, CSCS

StangerScott has spent 8 years studying all aspects of human movement, athletic performance and rehabilitation. After graduating from the University of Western Ontario with a BA in kinesiology he went on to complete the athletic therapy program at Sheridan College. He is a Certified Kinesiologist and Strength and Conditioning Specialist and is working towards becoming a Certified Athletic Therapist.

 Throughout his career Scott has worked with athletes of all levels, from recreational to professional athletes, and has experience working with a variety of sports, including basketball, soccer, football and hockey.  During the 2009-2010 season Scott worked, as a student athletic therapist, with the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League. This gave him the opportunity to work with many current NHL players.

 Scott is dedicated to improving the health and performance of athletes, with a strong focus on injury prevention. He is committed to using the most effective, up-to-date, treatment and training techniques in order to help athletes achieve their performance goals and return to their chosen sport quickly, when recovering from an injury.

 

 

Ian Warner, ISSA, PTS

Ian Warner As a football coach for over 12 years, and certified as a Personal Training Specialist for 6, Ian has developed a strong reputation for turning teams around from poor performers into playoff caliber. Ian brings coaching experience with high performance athletes from multiple sports, and is skilled at transferring this knowledge to developing athletes of various abilities. Ian has also competed as a competitive bodybuilder, and has been training himself for over 28 years. Ian, is married with 2 children. Both sons are Canadian national sprinters, and currently competing in the NCAA system.

Janice Wu, CSCS

Janice Wu Janice graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Physical Health and Education. After completing her degree, she earned the Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist designation from the National Strength and Conditioning Association. To add to her skill set, she is also an accomplished STOTT Pilates Instructor.

Complementing her extensive education, Janice has worked in many different environments, including sports injury clinics, fitness facilities, high schools and in client homes, with extensive experience in training a varied population of teens, athletes, rehab patients and weekend warriors. Currently, Janice is the strength and conditioning coach for the Leaside Wildcats Midget AA Girls Hockey Team and working with various other teams at Advantage 4 Athletes.

When not achieving results with clients, Janice strives to find the right balance of cooking, entertaining friends and working it all off playing ultimate Frisbee and Pilates Reformer training. She was a member of the Canadian National Rhythmic Gymnastics Team, but now spends her leisure trying to relive her youth.

Bradley Corcoran, MS, CSCS, NSCA-CPT 

Brad CorcoranAs a former NCAA Division I Athlete, Brad graduated from Long Island University with a Bachelor of Science in Sport Science. After a stand-out career with the Men's Golf Team as a two-time team MVP and All-Northeast Conference Team Member, Brad completed his graduate study with a Master of Science in Exercise Physiology. While at LIU, Brad assisted in the development of the Human Performance Lab within the Division of Sport Science. Upon completion of his graduate study, Brad was awarded the Division of Sport Science Academic Excellence Graduate Award, graduating at the top of his class.

Brad is certified through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and Certified Personal Trainer (NSCA-CPT). Outside of Advantage 4 Athletes, Brad spends most of his time with family and friends, on the golf course, or playing hockey.
